Chroma Privacy Policy

Overview

Chroma is an offline period-tracking app by Shanci Technology Co., Ltd. This policy explains what information is stored by the app and how it is used.

Data stored on your device

Chroma stores the information you enter or choose inside the app, including birth year; cycle, period, pregnancy, and post-pregnancy settings; the trying-to-conceive mode switch; health logs, including period days and flow, symptoms, moods, sex tags, pain, discharge, ovulation and pregnancy test results, basal body temperature, weight, energy, sleep, and notes; settings and times for the period, daily-log, fertile-window, ovulation, luteal-phase, and pad-change reminders; medication names and reminder times; language and appearance settings; App Lock preferences; and any photo you choose as a Today background. The full birth date you enter during setup is used on your device only to check your age and is not saved.

That information is stored on your device using Apple's local storage. If iCloud device backup is enabled for your device, Apple may include Chroma's local app data in that backup. Chroma does not provide its own account system or cloud sync service.

If you add Chroma widgets, the widgets read the same on-device data from the app's shared local storage and can show cycle information on your Home Screen or Lock Screen.

To determine whether a consent screen is required, Chroma asks Apple's StoreKit for the current App Store storefront at the start of each app session. Chroma stores only whether the storefront was resolved and whether mainland China consent rules apply, together with the accepted policy version and time. Chroma also uses StoreKit for the Chroma PRO purchase: Apple processes the payment, and Chroma keeps only your unlock status on your device.

Data collection, tracking, and sharing

Chroma does not create accounts, does not use a server, and does not include third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking SDKs. The app does not send your cycle logs, health information, selected photos, or settings to Shanci Technology Co., Ltd.

We do not sell or share your app data. If you contact us by email, we use your email address and message only to respond to and handle your request.

Device permissions

• Notifications are used only for reminders you enable in the app. Reminder titles can include health details, such as a medication name or an upcoming period, fertile window, ovulation, luteal phase, or pad change, and iOS can show them on the Lock Screen and in Notification Center — App Lock does not apply there. You can hide notification previews in iOS Settings.
• App Lock protects access to what Chroma displays; it does not encrypt the local database or exported files. Face ID or device authentication is used only when App Lock is enabled. Biometric authentication is handled by iOS; Chroma does not receive your biometric data. App Lock does not apply to widgets — remove the Chroma widgets if you don't want cycle information shown on your Home Screen or Lock Screen.
• The photo picker is used only when you choose a Today background photo. Chroma stores the selected image locally in the app's storage.

Exporting and deleting data

Exports and shares from Chroma — CSV files, PDF doctor reports, and shared images — are unencrypted and may contain sensitive health information. A doctor report also includes the questions text you type for it, which is not otherwise saved. When you save or share these files, you hand them to the app or service you choose; Chroma cannot delete the copies that service keeps. Save or share them only with services and people you trust.

Your data stays on your device until you delete it: you can edit or remove entries at any time, and Chroma keeps the rest until you erase your data or delete the app. You can erase all Chroma data from Settings at any time; this is also how you withdraw any consent you gave in the app. Erasing removes the app's local profile, health logs, settings, medication reminders, custom backgrounds, notifications, temporary export files, consent record, and cached app state. It cannot remove copies you already exported or shared, or copies in device backups managed by Apple.
